Objective: The aim of this study is to reveal how women perform subjective home birth experiences based on process as prenatal experiences, birth experiences and postpartum experiences. Method: In this study, phenomenology pattern was used with qualitative research method. In the sample selection of this study, the criteria sampling method from the purpose sampling method was used. The data was evaluated by content analysis. Data was collected in two forms as Information Form identifying women giving birth at home and semi-structured in-depth Individual Interview Form. All questions are open-ended. The drilling question of each question has been prepared. The interviews were conducted at the individuals own homes using the face-to-face interview method. All interviews were recorded on a voice recorder with the permission of the participants. The in-depth interview started with the question Could you tell me about your birth at home, please?. Results: In this study, the ages of women n=20 ranged from 21 to 47. The number of home births for women was at least one and at most 13. Before giving birth at home, 55% of women planned to have a home birth, and 45% of them had a home birth for various reasons although they did not plan to give birth at home. Home birth experience consists of three complementary processes and 5 main themes, 14 themes and 37 sub-themes. Home birth preparation was the first process; its main theme had percepted of birth at home. The themes that make up this main theme are the perception of home, internal formations and the perception of comfort. The main theme of the second process, which reflects the operational dimension of the home birth experience, is women who give birth. The themes that formed this main theme were the influence of birth positions, emotional life experiences at birth. The main theme of the process was the effected of birth positions, emotional life experiences at birth. The main theme of the third process, which is the last process of labor, is postpartum gains which consist of emotional gains, behavioral acquisitions, and cognitive acquisition s themes. the gains after the act of birth consists of themes of emotional gains, behavioral gains, and cognitive gains. Conclusion: When the home birth experiences of women are evaluated, it is seen that they are organized under 5 main themes. These include perception of home birth, factors affecting home birth decision making, preparation for birth, interactions with women s inner worlds and environments during childbirth, and postpartum emotional, behavioural and cognitive gains. The factors that take women home should be integrated into healthcare facilities so that the home birth is not sustained for generations

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between exposure to violence from husband, and their families and relatives, and sexual dysfunction in women with infertility. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 202 women with infertility at an Assisted Reproductive Techniques Center of a state university located in the west of Turkey. Infertile Women s Exposure to Violence Determination Scale, Index of Female Sexual Function, and information form were used for obtaining data. Results: The Infertile Women s Exposure to Violence Determination Scale total score was 40.5 ± 9.9. The Index of Female Sexual Function score was 34.9 ± 6.4, and 36 women 17.8% had sexual dysfunction. The Infertile Women s Exposure to Violence Determination Scale total score of the women with sexual dysfunction 47.8 ± 14.7 was significantly higher than the total score of the women without sexual dysfunction 38.9 ± 7.7; p < 0.001. Total score of the Infertile Women s Exposure to Violence Determination Scale was negatively correlated with total score of the Female Sexual Function of Index(r = - 0.268; p < 0.00. Conclusion: In this study was found that women with infertility level of exposure to violence were low. However, sexual dysfunction increases as the level of exposure to violence increases. Of the infertile women should be determined exposure to violence and sexual dysfunction levels.

Objective: The study was carried out with the aim of determine the opinion of midwives about the Neonatal Resuscitation Program course. Methods: The research was carried out with qualitative research design in the delivery room of a public hospital in the south of our country between 15 - 28 June 2019. By the using criterion sampling which is one of the purposive sampling the population of the study are 14 midwives who work in the delivery room and they have Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification and are active users. The data were collected with a semi-structured interview form and analyzed by content analysis method. Results: In this study, regarding the views of midwives about the Neonatal Resuscitation Program course, four themes consisting of general opinions about the course, applicability / transferability of the course to applications, problems encountered in practice and solutions to problems and four themes and 15 sub-themes were obtained. Conclusion: In the study, it was concluded that midwives think that the course for the Neonatal Resuscitation Program is an effective and necessary training, but that continuous updates should be made. In line with these results, it can be contributed to neonatal health by organizing effective update training that takes into account the current knowledge and practices of midwives.

Objective: The most important goal of graduate education is to train scientists who research, generate new ideas, are curious and critical, participate in multidisciplinary studies and act according to ethical principles. Nurses who care for individuals of all ages will be able to improve their nursing care by following the advances in health and being open to developments. This research was conducted to determine students attitudes at the nursing department at a private university towards graduate education. Methods: The research was conducted in a descriptive design with a private university s nursing students in Istanbul between July and October 2019. Without choosing the sample, all of the students N: 260 who agreed to participate in the study constituted the sample n: 167. The data were collected online via students mail by using Personal Information Form and Attitude towards Graduate Education Scale. The scale is a 5-point Likert type scale consisting of twenty- seven items. It consists of four sub-dimensions: interest and importance, fear and anxiety, lack of need and desire and want. The data were analyzed using descriptive tests such as frequency, percentage, and average, Mann Whitney U, and Kruskal Wallis H tests in the SPSS 24.0 program. Results: It was determined that 73.1% of the students were female, 40.7% were in 2nd grade, and 61.1% of students socioeconomic status were in the middle. And, 92.8% of the students continue with graduate education. It has been determined that 34.8% of those who want to get graduate degree want to be an academic and 24.5% of them want to get graduate study in the Department of Surgical Nursing. The mean score of the students Attitude towards Graduate Education Scale is 52.05 ± 19.2. It has been determined that the mean score of the attitude scale towards graduate education for those who want to receive postgraduate education is significantly medium in all sub-dimensions. Conclusion: In this study, it was determined that nursing students attitudes towards graduate education were at a medium level. Considering the status of willingness to receive graduate education, it was found that the scale and sub-dimensions mean scores of those who did not want to take it were statistically significantly higher than those who did. In line with the results obtained from the research, the university should provide the information about graduate education and the students should be supported to encourage for graduate education.

Objective: The aim of this study was carried out with aim of determining status of nursing students to recognize the symptoms of violence against women. Methods: The research was conducted in a descriptive manner with 414 nursing students at a public university on 10-25 February 2020. The data were analyzed with the IBM SPSS V23 program using the information form regarding socio-demographic characteristics and “Scale Regarding Nurses and Midwives’ Recognition of Symptoms of Violence Against Women’’. Percentage and frequency were examined in the evaluation of the data and since there are three dependent variables, the multivariate analysis of variance technique was applied. Since all the assumptions could not be provided; Pillai test, which is resistant to deviations from normality (robust), was applied. Results: It was found that 55.1% of the students received training on violence against women, 19.8% faced the phenomenon of violence against women, and 19.0% complained when they faced violence. The total score of the students was 19.32±.13, the emotional violence symptoms knowledge score was 12.16±.25, the physical violence symptoms knowledge score was 7.92±.21. Scores for defining physical, general and emotional symptoms of violence across genders; Significant differences were found only for emotional violence scores between class groups (p<.05). Accordingly, male students were found to be better at identifying physical, emotional, and general violence symptoms than female students, and first-grade participants were better at defining emotional violence than those in fourth grade Conclusion: In this study, it was determined that the knowledge of nursing students about recognizing the symptoms of violence against women is sufficient, but their level of awareness and sensitivity should be increased. In this context, it is important for nursing students, who will form the health team of the future, to develop their awareness of social problems such as violence in the education period as well as vocational training. In the nursing curriculum, it can be tried to increase the awareness and sensitivity of students with both theoretical and applied courses. In addition, students can be supported to take extra-field courses from disciplines such as anthropology, sociology, and psychology, so that they can look at the subject with a broader vision.

Objective: This study was conducted as a descriptive to determine the occupational risks and health problems of nurses working in the operating room caused by the working environment. Methods: The research was conducted between November 2014 and February 2015 in public, private and university hospitals located within the borders of a Metropolitan Municipality. The sample of the study consisted of 133 nurses who worked in the operating rooms of the hospitals that allowed the study to be conducted for 6 months or longer and volunteered to participate in the study. The data were collected by using a questionnaire containing the descriptive characteristics of nurses, their institutional and professional characteristics, and the occupational risks and health problems faced by nurses in the operating room. Results: The absence of daylight was stated as a physical risk factor by 63.2% of the nurses while 60.2% of them considered injuries with cutting, piercing, and sharp tools as biological risk factors. On the other hand, 69.9% of the nurses asserted toxic effects of anesthetic gases and 57.1% of the toxic effects of disinfectants as chemical risk factors. Furthermore, 72.2% the nurses pointed out long-term standing or restraint in the same position and movement as an ergonomic risk factor while 68.4% of them expressed the operation room being a very stressful and isolated environment as a psychosocial risk factor. It was determined that 85.7% of the nurses had complaints of fatigue, and 9.0% suggested working conditions to be arranged in a way to prevent occupational risks. Conclusion: It was determined that the operating room nurses were exposed to physical, chemical, biological, ergonomic and psychosocial risks, and as a result, experienced weakness, fatigue and muscle-joint pain, mostly reported due to lumbar / cervical hernia / lumbargia and standing disorders (varicose veins, etc.) determined. In line with the results of the research, it is recommended to improve the physical, chemical, biological, ergonomic, and psychosocial conditions of the operating rooms, to organize in-service training programs and to regulate the working conditions

Obesity is a serious health problem that occurs as a result of increasing the amount of fat in the body to disrupt health. In obesity frequency, it affects the quality of life negatively in every age group. The incidence of chronic diseases with obesity is increasing. In this respect, it is seen as a risk factor for chronic diseases. The pathophysiology of obesity and, accordingly, the deterioration of the general health status, the importance of nursing care to be given to patients in obesity surgery is increasing. In this article, in order to obtain positive patient care results, nursing practices that reduce the risks that may occur in the care of patients with bariatric surgery candidates, prevent the development of complications and accelerate the recovery are examined in the light of the literature. In this article, nursing care, which will be given before, during and after bariatric surgery, was announced.

Neuropsychiatric symptoms are exacerbated in the early hours of the evening or in the afternoon, especially in people with dementia, which is defined as Sundowning Syndrome. Although this syndrome has been described in the literature a long time ago, it has been ignored. However, the lack of evidence-based studies on the subject is insufficient to determine the clinical features and prevention strategies. This affects both the patient and the caregiver and in particular contributes negatively to the caregiver burden. Sundowning syndrome, in which behavior such as disorientation, confusion, agitation, restlessness and wandering occurs, is mostly confused with delirium. Unlike delirium, however, it is seen that the sundowning continues for a longer period of time and the same behavior occurs especially in the early hours of the evening. Early detection of Sundowning syndrome symptoms will help reduce the burden of both the demented individual and the caregiver. Therefore, it is necessary to adopt a multidisciplinary team approach. Nurses in this team have important duties. When nurses meet a patient with dementia, they should include observations that give a clue to Sundowning syndrome to the classic nursing assessment. This will help in the early recognition of many neuropsychiatric symptoms, including Sundowning. In this review, it is aimed to present clinical features, pathophysiology, treatment management and nursing approaches of Sundowning syndrome and to guide nurses and other health professionals related to the subject considering the deficiency in the literature.

In chronic mental disorders such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, comprehensive, coordinated and long-term studies that are performed to meet the psychological and social needs of the medical treatment and to regain the social roles they have lost due to illness are community mental health services. The World Health Organization emphasizes that individuals and families with mental problems should not be away from the society, the necessity of health care that respects human rights and prevents patients from being labeled, and it should be provided within the framework of community based mental health service instead of hospitals. Today, it has become a common goal to reach individuals with chronic mental illness worldwide, to maximize their quality of life and to participate in economic and social life. Because one of the most important problems in these individuals is unemployment and the feeling of not being able to work. Given the role of employment in people s life and the development of ones self-esteem; Placement of people with mental health problems is key in promoting recovery. In this context, the medical, psychological, social and vocational activities offered to help these individuals restore their working capacities or provide them with the necessary prerequisites to start a job are included in vocational rehabilitation services. Community mental health centers, which are opened for the provision of community mental health service, help for the rehabilitation of individuals with chronic mental illness. The community mental health nurse is also part of the multidisciplinary team of this center. In this review, it is aimed to determine the importance of occupational rehabilitation in the recovery of individuals with severe mental disorders and to identify the interventions that can be done to reduce the barriers and employment of community mental health nurses.

Amaç: Bu çalismada hemsirelik son sinif ögrencilerinin sahip oldugu psikolojik siddet algisinin, boyutunun, nedenlerinin ve sonuçlarinin bagimsiz kelime iliskilendirme testi ve yazma çizme teknigiyle detayli incelenmesi amaçlanmistir. Gereç ve Yöntem: Arastirmada nitel arastirma yaklasimlarindan durum çalismasi deseninden yararlanilmistir. Durum çalismasi, bir olguyu, bir durumu derinlemesine inceleyen bir arastirma yöntemidir. Çalisma grubunu 26 hemsirelik son sinif ögrencisi olusturmustur. Veri toplama araci olarak; bagimsiz kelime iliskilendirme testi ve yazdirma–çizdirme teknigi kullanilarak, katilimcilarin “psikolojik siddet” kavramiyla ilgili bilissel yapilarinda ayrintili veri toplanmasi hedeflenmistir. Çizimler ise ögrencilerin mevcut bilgilerini, inançlarini kelimelere bagli kalmaksizin ifade etmesini saglar. Elde edilen veriler içerik analizine göre degerlendirilerek kategoriler belirlenmistir. Bulgular: Elde edilen bulgulara göre hemsirelik adaylarinin psikolojik siddet ile ilgili zihinlerindeki kavramlardan bagimsiz kelime iliskilendirme testiyle ve yazma çizme teknigiyle toplam 6 kategori olusturulmustur.. Bu kategoriler psikolojik siddetin özellikleri, psikolojik siddetin etkileri, psikolojik siddetin nedenleri, psikolojik siddeti gösterme biçimleri ve psikolojik siddeti uygulayanlardir. Sonuç: Psikolojik siddetin insanlarin ruh sagligini etkileyen önemli bir sorun oldugu düsünüldügünde gelecegin saglik profesyonelleri olan hemsirelik ögrencilerinin psikolojik siddet algisinin belirlenmesi, farkindaliklarinin artirilmasi ve egitim sürecinin de bu dogrultuda planlanmasi gerekmektedir.
